The Quarry Arts Center

Nestled into bush clad hills only 5 minutes walk from central Whangarei is a little piece of paradise nurturing the creative spirit of Northland and known as The Quarry Arts Centre.


Open to the public 7 days a week, visitors can stroll through the grounds and see resident artists in their studios, purchase hand-crafted goods directly from local artists at the Quarry Craft Co-op shop, view exhibitions at the Yvonne Rust Gallery, bring the family for a picnic by the waterfall or take a walk in the Coronation Reserve up to the pa site or over the hill to the Quarry Subtropical Garden – all for free.

Hangar Frames and Gallery are stockists of unique Northland art. Promoting and showcasing the talents of a wide range of local artists and craftspeople, including painters, printmakers, sculptors, jewellers and glass artists. Internationally recognized and avant-garde art makers. Visit us to view beautiful and original art pieces, from contemporary to traditional works.


We also provide an on site quality picture framing service. Our framers have a long history of work experience in the framing, gallery and craftsman carpentry areas. We are happy to discuss and quote on any item.

The Community Arts Centre

The Old Library Arts Center, Whangarei is located in a 1930s historical building, formerly the Whangarei Public Library, on Rust Avenue.


Now operating as a community arts center the Old Library houses exhibitions, theatre productions, performances and a variety of visual arts activities.
